The material of the plastic corrugated pipe is HDPE. Its corrosion resistance is far superior to that of metal, it is not afraid of acid and alkali corrosion, it does not corrode itself, and can effectively protect the tendons from corrosion. Many prestressed structures have suffered serious impacts, such as deicing for salt or brine. When the tension member is blocked or fails due to the collapse of the waterproof layer, microcracks and leaking drainage, the tendons are likely to have corrosion effects. The grouting tendons in the "FIP Construction Guide (1990)" point out that permanent metal pipes do not have corrosion resistance enough to resist water leakage and reach the grout and tendons. The barrier protection provided by corrugated plastic pipes is far better than that of metal corrugated pipes as tendons, which can prevent harmful substances from being polluted through the pipes, thereby ensuring that the post-tensioned structure has better durability;
 
Under the same conditions, the friction coefficient of the channel reserved by the SBG (B) plastic waveguide is significantly smaller than that of the channel reserved by the metal bellows, reducing the loss of tension during the prestressing process. Generally, for highway bridges, the friction coefficient of plastic bellows is 0.14, the friction coefficient of metal bellows is 0.25 (0.2-0.25), and the coefficient of variation is 0.0015.
 
High-strength plastic bellows are not afraid of stepping on, not easy to vibrate, easy to hold and disassemble, and have better sealing and anti-leakage performance than metal bellows, and are more suitable for vacuum grouting.
